Decorative Stainless Steel Finishes We Supply Different finishes create very different visual effects and should be selected according to the design, lighting environment and final application. Mirror / 8K provides a highly reflective polished appearance and is commonly selected for elevator interiors, retail displays, feature panels and luxury interior decoration. Hairline creates a fine continuous linear grain. It is widely used for elevator panels, wall cladding, furniture and architectural metalwork where a controlled brushed appearance is preferred. No.4 provides a softer brushed satin appearance with less reflection than mirror surfaces, making it suitable for commercial interiors, wall panels and fabricated stainless steel components. For cleaner architectural surfaces with a controlled linear texture, Hairline or No.4 is often more appropriate. If color is part of the design, a PVD finish can combine gold, black, champagne, bronze or other metallic colors with mirror, hairline or textured base surfaces. For custom graphic or geometric effects, consider etched stainless steel. For feature walls and ceilings where greater visual depth is required, water ripple, vibration, sandblasted or embossed finishes can create stronger texture and interaction with light. Choosing the Right Stainless Steel Grade The decorative surface should not be selected separately from the stainless steel grade. 304 stainless steel is a common starting point for many architectural and interior applications because it provides a practical balance of corrosion resistance, fabrication performance and availability. 316L stainless steel may be considered where greater corrosion resistance is required, especially when specified for more demanding environments. 201 stainless steel can be used for selected interior decorative applications where the project specification permits. 430 stainless steel can also be considered for appropriate decorative applications where a ferritic stainless steel grade meets the service requirements.
